Fully enforce the law and protect taxpayers
"San Gabriel's families, business, and taxpayers rely on their government to protect them when they must pay taxes and to spend those taxes wisely once they are paid to the government," said John Morris. "My decades of experience of fighting crime and fraud throughout Los Angeles County as a prosecutor shows that I will always work to fully enforce the law and protect taxpayers. Having the endorsement of so many of the San Gabriel Valley's great leaders is very gratifying and extremely helpful in my campaign."
Citing his 24 year career as a prosecutor and his plan to enact internal controls into the Assessor's office that will institutionalize best practices and transparency reforms, the San Gabriel Valley Tribune endorsed Head Deputy District Attorney John Morris for County Assessor earlier in the year.
"Prop 13 helped create an incredible level of predictability and transparency in assessments," explained John Morris. "As Assessor I will make sure that Prop 13 is fully implemented while improving technology and training within the office so that the public understands and then can trust how the Assessor values property within the $1.1 trillion assessment roll. After all, taxpayers through enterprise, hard work and ingenuity created the largest single roll of local property in the world and they deserve to have their hard work protected."
